Pat was born in Vallejo and raised in the family home of his mother and grandmother in Benicia. He lived there most of his life until his passing. During his days at Saints, “Lefty,” was one of the most respected athletes in our class. He was known for his outstanding defensive abilities in baseball and basketball, as well as being a potent offensive player. He was named to the All Conference Team in his senior year. Pat was known for his ability to catch errant throws from the infielders -- and make it look easy. He was a positive force and a leader on and off the field and court.
Pat’s love of sports continued throughout his life as he read about, watched and played sports any chance he got. He could recite team stats for various teams going back many years, and he was a season ticket holder for his beloved 49ers. After graduation Pat entered the Air Force and served in Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, he finished his education at St. Mary’s College in Moraga and became a teacher. He taught math at St. Dominic’s in Benicia and became the principal, eventually retiring from that position.
Cooking and travel were some of the other hobbies Pat enjoyed. He played in Benicia City League for several years. Pat tenderly cared for his mother for many years, and although he never married, he was engaged at the time of his passing.
