Lawrence Joseph (Joe) Donovan
February 19,1945 - November 25, 2014

Joe was the second eldest of 12 children.  From an early age, he was the family jokester.  Born and raised in Vallejo he never left the home of his youth.  He had multiple jokes always at the ready, even to his last day. He was quick and inquisitive with a sharp mind and vast memory.
In school Joe was an excellent student and a California State Scholarship Semi-Finalist.  Joe was a member of the school’s Servers Club, whose members worked with Father Cassidy to assist the priests, sisters and others with the various religious activities at St. Vincent High School.  Throughout his high school days, he also served as a team manager for the football, basketball and baseball teams.
After graduation from Saints, Joe attended UC Berkeley. He was in the early wave of the computer programmers at PG&E .  He married and had a daughter and a son, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Joe worked at Wilson Cornelius in Vallejo in the parts dept. for many years, eventually retiring from Hilltop Ford.  Joe was known as “the parts man.”
Kind and generous he was to all, especially children.  He loved to make children laugh. Joe was a charitable man always helping those in need.  In later years, he shared a deep love with Jo Brewer. Joe and Jo called themselves the “two Joes.”
Those of us who were classmates of Joe’s will always remember him for his quiet and fun demeanor.  We are sure that Joe brought his repertoire of jokes with as he met St. Peter!
