Our First 50th Anniversary

Elizabeth (Libby) Dawson Koch and husband, Roger, celebrated their Golden Anniversary on November 11, 2011. Our first classmate to be married 50 years!

It all began one sunny day in 1960 when Libby and her girlfriend, Carol Alexander,  were playing tennis at the Vallejo City Park. Bill, a friend of Roger, happened by and noticed these two girls playing tennis at the park. So Bill went and got his friend Roger and the two showed up at the park and began a conversation with Libby and Carol. It wasn’t love at first sight with Libby and Roger but pretty close. They began dating and in 1961 Libby became Mrs. Roger Koch at Saint Vincent’s Church with classmate and friend, Nell Boyle, as her attendant.

Libby worked many years in the mortgage industry and Roger retired from Mare Island after a career in the paint shop. The couple have been blessed with three children, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. These two have been known to “frequent” a casino or two and they have enjoyed many cruises to foreign ports.  They also spent many happy years in their home in Magalia, CA, an old gold mining town. More recently they have relocated to the Fairfield area to be closer to their large family. Libby and Roger are very involved with their family and enjoy helping care for the wee ones.

Congratulations Libby and Roger and your classmates wish you many more happy years together.
